Oral Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a procedure that removes or loosens the band of tissue that adjoins the lip, cheek, or tongue with the inside of the mouth. Although the frenum is a normal part of the oral anatomy, it can restrict movement, or otherwise impair comfortable function. Dr. Rogers may recommend a frenectomy for a patient who has undergone orthodontic treatment, a patient who wears full dentures, or for aesthetic reasons. With the aid of a dental laser, Dr. Rogers can complete a frenectomy in a single visit with minimal discomfort to the patient.
